How to set up Extuitive

Extuitive is a connection you add to Claude Desktop so Claude can build Meta ads for you. This article covers connecting it, what happens after an upload, and the problems people hit most often. Setup takes about a minute.

Before you start

You need a Meta ad account you can create ads in (an Advertiser or Admin role works). Extuitive works with both Claude and Codex, so follow whichever section matches the tool you already use — you do not need both.

Connect Claude Desktop

The main route. No terminal, no files to install — Extuitive is a connection you add inside Claude Desktop.

Open Claude Desktop and select Customize.
Click on Connections, then click the Add button.
Name the connector Extuitive and paste the Extuitive URL. Claude checks the server. When it says “Server found”, select Continue.

Leave the detected settings and select Add. “Sign in now” and “Register automatically” are already picked for you — there is nothing to change.
Select Connect. The connector page says you are not connected to Extuitive yet. Select Connect; your browser opens and asks “Finish connecting a connector?” — choose Continue connecting.
Create your Extuitive account. On the “Connect Claude to Extuitive” page, select Create an account (or Log in if you already have one). Continue with Facebook is the quickest; Google or email also work.
Connect Meta. Select Continue to Meta and confirm with Facebook, then choose the ad accounts you want to use with Extuitive and select Continue. Only the accounts you pick here can be uploaded to.
Allow access for Claude. Select Allow access. Claude shows “Connected” and takes you back to the desktop app — if your browser asks, choose Open Claude.
Open a new chat. This is the step people miss. Extuitive only appears in chats you start after connecting.
Ask for an upload. For example: “Upload the ads in this folder to Summer Testing.”

You are set when the Extuitive connector page shows Disconnect and a list of tools, and those tools appear in a brand-new chat.

Terminal setup (Codex)

Only needed if you use Codex or prefer the terminal. Requires Node.js 20 or newer and the Codex CLI. If you are on Claude Desktop, use the section above instead.

Install the skill. Run npx extuitive install once. “Server online” means it worked — there is nothing else to type.

Log in. In the same terminal, run codex mcp login extuitive. In the browser window it opens, sign up, connect Meta, and select Allow access — the same steps as above.

Quit Codex and reopen it. Without a restart the skill will not be picked up.
Point it at your creative. For example: “Upload ./creative to Summer Testing.”

You are set when codex mcp list shows extuitive as connected.

What happens after you upload

You name a folder and a campaign. Extuitive uploads the creative to your Meta library, then builds the ads — names, URLs, display links and copy all filled in.

Every ad is created paused. Nothing goes live and nothing spends until you open Meta Ads Manager, review the batch, and switch the ads on yourself.

If something goes wrong

I connected, but Extuitive does not show up: Start a new chat. Connections load when a chat opens, so anything already running will not see Extuitive. In Codex, quit the app completely and reopen it.
The terminal says “server online”. What now?: That is the success message. Leave the terminal alone and go back to Codex to make your request.
npx is not found, or my company blocks it: Common on managed Windows machines. Use the Claude route above instead — it needs no terminal. If you need Codex, install Node.js 20 or newer, check node --version works, then run the install again.
It says “already exists in user config”: The skill is already installed, so the installer stopped. Restart Codex and log in again. If it still does not appear, run codex mcp remove extuitive and install from scratch.
Meta sent me to a localhost page: Your connection worked — that page is just where the handoff ends. Close the tab and go back to your Extuitive setup guide, which will show Meta as connected.
I cannot see my ad account: You need an active Meta ad account where your user can create ads (Advertiser or Admin). In Meta Business Settings, check that your user is assigned to the ad account with one of those roles, then disconnect and reconnect Meta.
My ads are not running: That is on purpose. Every ad is created paused so nothing spends before a human looks at it. Review the batch in Ads Manager and switch the ads on.
